At last! Juujiro J-Culture Organization, Inc is proud to announce that this year we will be holding our event J-Crunch 2009. Our new schedule falls on a Saturday, November 21, 2009, to b

e held at Freedom Bar, Anonas, Quezon City (near LRT-2 Anonas Station). J-Music Bands, old and new, will be joining in to participate in a night of pure rockin' Anime, J-Pop and J-Rock music.

Anime Overload Festival AOF 2009

What to expect:

1. Japan Foundation will be providing us with MANGA COMICS for everyone reading pleasure, they will set up a mini library.

2. World of Fun will bring 3 of their famous fighting arcade machine, everyone can play for free, game stubs will be on a first come first serve basis, so be sure to be there early.

3. Netopia will be having a DOTA lan game, everyone can also play for free.

4. Otakuzine will be giving away DC kids comics on their booth.

5. Game! Magazine will be giving away sampler Game! Magazine on their booth.

6. Gamehopper will giveaway discount coupons for monthly rental of PS3, Xbox & Wii games - all of their games are original.

7. SugarFree & Blue will be selling the Official Shirt of Anime Overload Festival, watch out for it because it is not your ordinary event shirts. Be sure to check out their booth

8. PinoyPS.com will be having their videogame challenge for Streetfighter IV & Tekken 6. Be sure to check-out their website & register. The Champion will win the pot money plus other exciting items.

9. PinoyPS.com will be having their "Kakasa ka ba sa Streetfighter Grandmaster?" wherein anyone can challenge their SF grandmaster, anyone who beats their grandmaster will win prizes such as Streetfighter Minimates, Videogame posters & other items. That is if you beat the grandmaster.

ON THE SPOT MANGA DRAWING CONTEST

Rules & Guidelines                 

Deadline to Submit:     Sunday, November 8, 2009 6:00PM       

Awarding:                    Sunday, November 8, 2009 7:00PM       

Judges:                        May come from any of the following:  Wacom, SAM, Comic Artist, Partner Organization 

Prizes:                         Gift Pack from Animax plus other premium items           

Prizes Categories:        Best Comic Strip (a sequential story told in traditional box form)

                                    Best Fan Art (a copied image of a previously created character)

                                    Best Original Character (created by the artist – not a copy).

 

Criteria for Judging:     35% - Creativity / Style 
20% -  Theme Integrity 
15% -  Story Telling
30% - Presentation / Impact 

 

1.     Each participant may enter only 1 (one) drawings.          

2.     Your entry must fit on a sheet of white 8.5 x 11 paper.   

3.     You may use any medium to create your work (e.g. pencil, pen, crayons, drawing tablet or an online drawing application)

4.     There is no limit as to what or how you create something – you must create a story and tell it in comic strip format,  copy your favorite Manga character or create your own character

5.     Entries must be labeled on the back with your name, age, gender, phone #.        

6.     Entries may be delivered to the Secretariat Booth on or before 6:00PM, Sunday , November 8, 2009

7.     Entries must be dropped off in an envelope marked “Manga Drawing Contest”.  Please write participant’s name, age and phone number on the outside of the envelope.

8.     The Awarding Ceremony will be on Sunday, November 8, 2009 7:00PM on Stage

9.     Completed artwork will be displayed in all Brightside Events websites.

10.  Brightside Events reserves the non-exclusive rights to use all entries on its website and/or in any advertising and promotional activities.

 

How to Join:

  • Buy your entrance ticket for P100 per head
  • Proceed to the Secretariat to Register for Manga Drawing Contest
  • You should bring your own drawing materials
  • Your drawing must be anime and must have a short story
  • Manga drawing contest will be done inside Manga cafe
  • allotted time to draw Manga comic is 1hr, entry should be submitted on or before 6PM
  • Open to all ages, male and female, amateur and experienced individual

ENTRIES FOR ANIME MUSIC VIDEO CONTEST IS NOW OPEN:

I. Eligibility / Requirement:

1.This contest is open to cosplayers and amateur film-makers only.

2.This contest is open to all ages.

3.Participants must have a registered account in YouTube wherein entries will be uploaded.

4.Participants must be residents of the Philippines.

5.Members of the Brightside organizing committee and officials of Anime Alliance and their relations up to the second degree of consanguinity are disqualified from joining this contest.

II. Mechanics:

1.Participants must create a music video consisting of 3-7 cosplayers re-enacting the opening or closing musical scene of any anime shows or other similar executions, creatively done to promote Anime Overload Festival event.

2.Video entry should be no longer than two (2) minutes in length.

3.Animax and Anime Overload logo will be provided and are required to appear within the video. Please note that logo should not be unaltered.

4.To submit the video entry, it must be uploaded to YouTube. Link should be submittedtoanimeallianceph@gmail.comcc:Brightside.events@gmail.com

5.Videos can be submitted starting September 23, 2009. The last day for submission is on November 5, 2009, 6:00 PM.

6.Anime Alliance and Anime Overload Festival officials will pick the top five (5) video entries on October 26, 2009. These videos will be featured on the event on November 08, 2009.

7.Special Gift packs from ANIMAX will be awarded to each of the top five (5) finalists.

FUNNY VOICES

Amateur Stand-Up Comedy Competition

Funny Voices is a contest developed by CreatiVoices Productions that combines character voicing with stand-up comedy.It aims to promote voice acting as an art in a fresh exciting way by bringing comedy into the scene, and who doesn’t like comedy?

Mechanics:

1.Open to individuals aged 16 and above.

5.The winner will receive an Php 8,000 scholarship to the most prestigious voice acting and dubbing workshop,Voiceworx!where he/she will undergo training with the dubbing industry’s most renowned directors, including Danny Mandia, Neil Tolentino, and Alexx Agcaoili.The winner will also automatically become an official voice talent of Creativoices Productions.

CONTEST DETAILS PER STAGE

Contest Auditions

1. At this stage, contestants must already have prepared 2 stand-up routines that are 3 minutes long each.

2. Routines should be wholesome and must not contain vulgarities. Voice acting will be required in the routine, but does not have to necessarily be the major theme.

3. Contestants will perform one routine in front of a set of judges. They must also provide the judges a copy of their script for reviewing.

Semi-Finals

1. Contestants will perform the same routine used during the auditions.

2. No major revisions will be allowed in the script during the Semi-Finals. Revisions only allowed will be line delivery re-ordering and minor line adjustments. Contestants must notify a judge of the revisions and will be subject for a review.

3.Judging will be based on the following Criteria:

a.Humor

b.Stage presence

c. Voice Acting

4.Five contestants will be chosen to proceed to the “Funny 5 Finals”

The Funny 5 Finals

1. The Funny 5 will perform their second routine that they did not use during the auditions and semi-finals.

2. No major revisions will be allowed in the script during the Finals. Revisions only allowed will be line delivery re-ordering and minor line adjustments. Contestants must notify a judge of the revisions and will be subject for a review.

Anime Overload Festival 2009 - Battle of the Bands

We would like to invite everyone to participate in this showdown of skills and outburst of energy! Play your favorite anime/Japanese song along with your fellow Japanese music enthusiasts and share your talent to be appreciated by otakus all over! How to join? Here's how:

.:: Registration Rules ::.

1. The contest is open to:

- up-and-coming bands covering anime and/or Japanese songs.
- the band should have performed live at least once in a recent event/convention this year.

(Please note that bands with less exposure in the anime/j-rock convention scene will be prioritized first, over the experienced bands.)

2. The band should be:

- composed of three (3) to seven (7) people.
- should consist at least one of the following: guitarist, bassist, vocalist, drummer. Other musical equipment will be allowed as long as the four mentioned band positions are present.
- should be comfortable playing in any of the following genres: J-Pop, J-Rock, Anime, or Japanese-related.

3. The following band setup must be met:
- There should no collaboration from members outside of the band, participating or not.
- Members playing in multiple bands (regardless if they play different instruments for each band) are not allowed.

4. Interested bands for the contest should submit the following details:

- Name of Band
- Official band email address / Band leader's email address
- Recent Band Member Lineup (name / age / position in the band)
- Group Picture of Band (no individual/patched pictures, please)
- Video link of recent performance uploaded from a website (YouTube, Facebook, etc). Please note that it should be a live recording from any anime or Japanese-related event/convention.
- 3 to 5 songs the band preferred to perform during the event. (Please state the Artist Name, Song Name and from what Anime/Movie/Japanese Drama it is associated, if applicable)

6. The Registration will start on September 17, 2009 and will end on October 03, 2009. However, priority will be given to the people who inquired before the start date.


.:: Contest Mechanics ::.

1. The participants will be pre-screened using the requirements and video performance submitted during the registration. The organizers will pick five (5) Finalists that will perform on the event date. Successful finalists will be informed through their email regarding their participation on the event.

1. On the day of the event, each band will be given fifteen (15) minutes on the stage: five (5) minutes setup time and ten (10) minutes for the performance itself.

2. Each band should be able to perform two (2) to three (3) songs during their allotted time.

3. The band should perform the songs from the list approved by the contest organizers, which will be informed prior to the contest to give the band ample time to rehearse their songs.

4. The band should bring their own guitars and/or other equipment (except for the drum set).

5. Once a band has already confirmed their performance, they should perform on their schedule time during the event. Please note that a 'no-show', with or without notice, will greatly affect the band's and band members' stature concerning the organizers' future events.

7. By participating in the contest, the organizer reserves the non-exclusive rights to publish the performance on its website and/or in any advertising the organizer deems fit.

8. The judges' decision is final.

Anime Overload Fest Cosplay Guidelines

==================================

1.     Anime Overload Fest cosplay event is open to all event attendees.

 2.     Anime Overload Fest cosplay event will be an ANIME/MANGA CATEGORY event where participants could cosplay any character that they want from any anime, manga, and video games. Please keep in mind that Original Characters are not qualified.

  3.     Anime Overload Fest cosplay event will be held on November 8, 2009. The INDIVIDUAL COSPLAY and the GROUP COSPLAY will be held on the said date.

  4.     The individual and group cosplay registration will be both an on-site/at-con registration and an online pre-registration. The on-site/at-con registration will be on November 8, 2009. Please refer to the Cosplay Online Pre-Registration procedure on each category.

  5.     All registrants are required to submit a reference picture of the character that they’ll be cosplaying upon registration. Pls. refer to the Picture Reference Submission section for the procedure.

  6.     Pre-registrants are required to confirm their pre-registrations on-site during the cosplay registration period. Pre-registering doesn’t guarantee a slot in the official cosplay list.

  7.     Cosplayers under eighteen (18) years of age as of cosplay event date must have their parent/s and/or legal guardian/s sign the waiver/image release form which will be distributed at the event.

  8.     Fanservice (ie. yaoi, yuri, etc.) is allowed but should be “General Patronage”. Any kind of extreme kind of fanservice (ie. kissing, PDA, etc.) that is deemed inappropriate for minors are strictly prohibited. Keep in mind that Anime Overload Fest is a wholesome and a General Patronage event.

  9.     Costumes that are too revealing (ie. exposes private parts) are prohibited. Scantly clad and/or sexy costumes are allowed but are not encouraged. The Anime Overload Fest cosplay team has the right to disqualify any participant on this ground.

  10.   All kinds of costume props must be handled with utmost care and must not be harmful to his/her fellow cosplayers, event staff and event attendees. Any kind of sharp and/or bladed objects that will be used as costume props that could cut human flesh are strictly prohibited. Any kind of pyrotechnic equipment/s that will be used as costume props that could render damage to the venue and/or property is strictly prohibited.

  11.   The Anime Overload Fest cosplay team, Anime Overload Fest organizers and its staff will not be held responsible for damage or injury resulting from mishandling and/or negligence of a cosplayer in his/her use of props/materials throughout the duration of the event.

  12.   Anime Overload Fest cosplay judges’ decisions are final and can’t be appealed.

  13.   Anime Overload Fest organizers reserve the right to disqualify any cosplayer who ignores and/or violates any of the aforementioned guidelines.

  14.   Registration and participation to the cosplay event constitutes that the cosplayer gives the right and the authority to Anime Overload Fest organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to take pictures and/or videos of registered cosplayers, cosplay groups and its members and will be the sole property of the organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to be used for future publications and/or advertising promotions.

  15.   Anime Overload Fest organizers and its staff and their relatives up to the 2nd degree of affinity or consanguinity are disqualified from participating in the cosplay event.

Individual Cosplay Guidelines

===========================

  1.        There will be an entry limit of one hundred (150) cosplayers for the Individual Cosplay event. There is a deadline for the registration and anyone who registered before the deadline quota is included to the official list of Individual Cosplay participants.

  2.        Cosplay registration for the Individual Cosplay event will be both an online pre-registration and an on-site/at-con registration.

  3.        The online pre-registration will be done through http://www.cosplay.ph which is hosted by Cosplay.ph. To register, you will need to have a cosplay.ph account (registration is free).

  4.        If the 150 Individual Cosplay quota has been reached but pre-registrants fail to confirm their registration from 10am-1pm on November 8, 2009, the next available slot(s) will be given to the on-site Individual Cosplay registrants.

  5.        Individual Cosplay participants are only allowed to have a maximum of two (2) human props.

  6.        Individual Cosplay participants will be given number tags that must be worn at all times.

 

7.        Individual Cosplay participants are not qualified to join the Group Cosplay event even as a minor role or as a prop.

Group Cosplay Guidelines

  1.        A cosplay group must consist of at least six (6) and a maximum of ten (10) members per group. Human props and the Cosplay Group’s Technical Director are included in the member count.

  2.        There will be any entry limit of ten (10) groups for the Group Cosplay. There is a deadline for the registration and anyone who registered before the deadline is included to the official list of Group Cosplay participants.

  3.        A member of a particular cosplay group can only join ONE COSPLAY GROUP and he/she will not allowed joining multiple cosplay group/s.

  4.        A member of a particular cosplay group is not qualified to join the Individual cosplay event.

  5.        Cosplay registration for the group cosplay will be online pre-registration only. Any on-site group cosplay registration will not be accepted.

  6.        The online pre-registration will be done through http://www.cosplay.ph which is hosted by Cosplay.ph. To register, you will need to have a cosplay.ph account (registration is free).

  7.        All cosplay groups are required to have a cosplay skit. Each cosplay group will be given a maximum of 5 minutes of stage time to do their skits.

  8.        All BGMs that will be used for the cosplay skit must be in audio format (.CDA) or in MP3 format and must be within the limit of their cosplay skit. Audio CDs must be properly labeled and submitted on November 7, 2009. Details for submission will be emailed after submitting an on-line registration. A cosplay group is required to have a technical director who will assist the Anime Overload Fest technical team in the usage of their BGM.

Picture Reference Submission

===========================

  1.     Each cosplayer is required to submit a digital file of the picture of the character that they’ll be cosplaying. Only digital file of the picture will be accepted.

  2.     All digital pictures must be in JPEG, GIF or PNG and must not exceed 10MB.

  3.     All digital pictures must not go below 144 x 288 pixels (wallet size) and must not go beyond 792 x 594 pixels (short bond paper size).

  4.     It is highly recommended to submit a full-body colored picture of the character that would be cosplayed. We’ll accept black/white pictures.

  5.     All digital pictures must be stored either on a USB thumb drive or on a CD.

We are currently looking for cheerful VOLUNTEERS who are willing to handle different tasks before/during and after Anime Event this coming November 08, 2009 at SMX Convention Center Pasay City. 

Requirements:
*  Willing to work between 4:00AM-12:00 midnight. 
Shifting Schedule:
     4:00AM-12:00 noon

     10:00AM-6:00 PM
     4:00PM-12:00 mid night

*  Willing to wear anime costume if required.

*  Willing to cooperate and happily do the assignment.

*  Willing to attend trainings and meetings if required.

          ***  Food and drinks will be provided.
